Meter Operational Test (M.O.T)
Horizon is pleased to announce a brand new service for its customers a Meter Operational Test “MOT”, most satellite and Terrestrial meters are used every day in a harsh environment and our customers are always asking us if they can have their meters checked for reading levels. Damage in use undetected can cause the readings to be incorrect, but by having your meter MOT’ed and benchmarked against the latest levels you can be confident of all your readings for you and your customers peace of mind.
MOT
Each meter will be visually inspected on arrival by one of our trained engineers and a report provided along with recommendations.
As part of the procedure each meter will be re-flashed with the latest satellite or Transmitter settings for testing purposes (this will overwrite any customer selections installed) the meter will then be re-flashed with the latest available Firmware for that model and then benchmarked against a known source for levels and values.
A report will be issued as to the findings using a tolerance of +/-3db and any recommendations by our engineers, along with a pass or fail certificate.
Should a meter fail, then you will be taken through the various options available to you by one of our trained staff.
Version 2.5 satellite meters, due to obsolescence on components some of these meters cannot be repaired by Horizon and therefore a worn tuner could cause the meter to fail. It will then be up to the customer to seek a repair by a third party if portsavers will not cure the problem.
Version 3 satellite meters and above will be able to have the replaceable barrels replaced as part of the test to make sure the best readings are obtained.
Terrestrial meters older than version 2, due to obsolescence on components some of these meters cannot be repaired by Horizon and therefore a worn tuner could cause the meter to fail. It will then be up to the customer to seek a repair by a third party.
